Timaimukh Dam has drawn much public and media attention by this time. Protests, demonstrations and discussions are going on in Bangladesh and elsewhere.
The Bangladesh Government has decided to send a Parliamentary Committee to visit the Tipaimukh Dam to understand the impact the Dam on Bangladesh. Later the Government expressed to include the experts in the Committee or a separate Expert Committee to explore the dam.
The ordinary citizen/s has little chance to visit the dam physically, so let us explore the dam from the contents of the Internet which may give us a better view of the problem.

what the hell is going on? i think India is selfish.they don’t think about others. Please stop this destructive project.
For an objective analysis based on the Indian EIA report on Tipaimukh dam, and a thorough
study of the downstream ecology, I would suggest these Daily Star pieces by Syed Zain
Al-Mahmood.

Dear all,
Well, I have been recently informed about the ill effects of proposed Tipaimukh Dam. Though I am from Silchar (Cachar dist of Assam, India) and very much concerned about the development / power/energy needs of my Barak Valley, no amount of such gains can compensate the long term damage to the enviorn / people / community living here in this area. I am deeply concerned abut this dam and its devastating future effects on my valley. I read your articles on Daily Star on this issue on the Internet today and thus writing to you.
I wish to take up this as a mass protest at the earliest. But I need the back up information / details abt this project. I wonder, if anyone has a copy of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report of the Tipaimukh dam done by Agricultural Finance Corporation of Mumbai ? May I get acopy ( I will bear the copying cost if soft copy is not available). Or any idea where we can get hold of the report.
Regards,
Baharul
