‘Experiment with democracy is intriguing’ said former US Ambassador Willium B Milam who is on a visit to Bangladesh now. He also said that Bangladesgh is going through a hopeful experiment of democracy which is also interesting. He was commenting to the reporters after a meeting with the Foreign Affairs Adviser Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury. He also hopes that transition to democracy will not be difficult in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is experimenting with democracy since its birth. In 1971, Bangladesh itself was liberated on the principles of democracy to uphold the rights of all citizen of the country.

After the initial start, Bangladesh passes through different critical stages to come to settle in 1990 to a parliamentary form of democracy.

Amidst many failures, Bangladesh atleast held three nationwide parlimentary  elections which were accepted by the people and  the International Community.

When it comes to the 4th election, it tumbles on itself. But before major catastrope took place, it halted and is trying to correct itself  and overhaul its system.

It indicates its potentiality as a nation to survive and also to prosper.

And we believe from our heart that Bangladesh will survive this experiment with democracy to build a new properous  future.
