CEC was expressing frustration as there is little reform takes place in the political parties so far. He was telling that though there was some sign of attempt to reform earlier, now that is also disappeared. He was expressing his opinion to the journalists in reply to the comments of some of the political leaders on the regularization of the political parties by the Election Commission.

That is true that virtually no reform took place so far in the political parties except that the two top political leaders are physically absent from the active political scene along with some political leaders who are also behind the bar on graft allegations. This is not reform rather imposition by the Government on the political parties which the parties are wishing to be temporary and would be lifted someday.

In the political scene, we are seeing the same old faces with the same old rhetoric. Those who are active, some of them also accused. Though they are active now, but what will happen ultimately to them, nobody knows.

I was listening to a talk show yesterday on ETV, where a retired Major General was saying that you can expect no political change with the present political leaders. What we need is to ban some 3000-4000 political leaders from competing in the election and create a vacuum for the new generation of leaders to fill up the vacuum.

Is there any way for the Government to disqualify that number of political leaders to compete in the coming elections to make the political arena more clean and serene?
