Rampal Power Plant – Gathering Protest September 27, 2013

Rampal power plant-1Bangladesh is in great shortage of electricity and Government has decided to set up a coal-based power plant in collaboration with India at Rampal,Khulna. The selection of the site specially draws criticism as Rampal is close to Sundarban, the largest mangrove in the world.
Rampal-2The protesters are of the opinion that the plant will make ecological imbalance and will destroy Sunadarban. A Long <arch from Dhaka is on progress from Dhaka to Rampal where thousands are participating. Green Activists and Experts expressed their concern. The opposition BNP declared that they will cancel the Rampal project if they win the election.

But government is adamant on their plan and Prime Minister will inaugurate the plant on 22nd of the month.
