ICT law-4At last ICT ordinance has been converted into law in the parliament without any change in its content despite criticism to certain clauses in the ordinance by the experts and youths.
The law delegates absolute power to the police to arrest without any warrant for any cyber offence. The maximum term also extended from 10 years to 14 years.
The inclusion of changes in the law will create concern for the new generation who uses the internet as a means for free expression of their opinion. The law is also contrary to the vision that the Government portrays of Digital Bangladesh by 2021.
The law may also be abused to harass the opposition activists.
