PM proposed in her nation-wide televised speech an All Party Election-Time Government in Bangladesh. She urged the opposition to submit the names from their members of parliament. But she didn’t mention who would be chief of the government and the proportion of the members from different opposition parties in the government.
Mr. Imam, Adviser to Sk. Hasina later clarified that present Prime Minister will be the head of the Government during the period as per constitution. The different ministers of the government later echoed his statement.
Rashed Khan Menon, a component of the Government Alliance appreciated the move and said that an opportunity for dialogue has been created by the proposal.
Jamaat-e-Islami,an ally of opposition BNP outway rejected the proposal and termed it as totally confusing.
Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Acting General Secretary of opposition BNP said that they will express their view after consulting with allies.
Jatiya Party didn’t clear their stand on the issue and President Ershad was invited by Prime Minister in a dinner in a clear indication to have JP on their side during the election.
