Representation of the People (amendment) Bill, 2013 is Passed November 1, 2013

The Parliament in its present session amended and passed RPO. The new amendment made provisions for getting nomination from any political party just after joining. Earlier there was precondition of 3 years primary membership to compete from any parliamentary election to restrict the bureaucrats,businessmen and unsteady politicians to take unwanted privilege.

BNP, main opposition party protested the change fearing that the new amendment may be used to divert their party-men to get nomination from the Government party and to weaken their movement.

Experts opine that the reform is a backward step.
