Desai-1US Assistant Secretary of State Nisha Desai Biswal made a 3 day visit to Bangladesh when Bangladesh is passing through a crisis concerning general election. It was thought that the visit might bring the opposing forces in Bangladesh to a compromise. Nisha Desai met PM, Opposition leader, leaders of different political parties and learned citizens to understand the ground reality of Bangladesh.
When Nisha is busy in discussion, Prime Minister Hasina declared formation of a new government for the interim period of election. Jatiya Party joined the new Government along with AL and Workers party. BNP, the major opposition party declined to join the new government as BNP assumed that it will not ensure any free and fair election.

In her article published by Reuter, Nisha Desai said that Bangladesh people may come to the streets in frustration if the crisis is not solved through dialogue.
