December 2013: UN Human Rights Chief Navi Pillay warns that political brinkmanship driving Bangladesh to the edge. Citing Bangladesh as a state party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court Navi Pillay said, “In other situations, we have seen cases of political or election related violence where the perpetrators of such acts — including political leadership — have faced prosecution.”

December 2013: Senior UN official Oscar Fernandez-Taranco will visit Bangladesh in the next week to facilitate a solution of the ongoing political crisis.
Bangladesh is an important contributor in the peace keeping forces of UN in many of countries of the world. UN has a moral obligation to ensure peace in Bangladesh in return. Probably UN is trying to return its debt to Bangladesh.
