Oscar Fernández-Taranco, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs who comes to negotiate a settlement in the political stalemate over general election in Bangladesh shouldn’t fail.
An ordinary citizen
Taranco was busy for the last 4 days in hectic conversations in discussing current political crisis and ways for coming out of the deadlock. He met PM, BNP leader Khaleda Zia, AL and Opposition leaders, Chief Election Commissioner, Citizen leaders and sometimes more than once. When the conversations were at the end with no hope, we could see the senior leaders of opposing camps to start a dialogue.
We are not yet sure that the dialogue will end at a compromise that will salvage the country but let us hope for the best.
