This was my maiden visit to India.
I intended to attend the National Conference on Pediatric Critical Care (NCPCC) held on 8-9th November 2014 with a Pre-conference Simulation Workshop on 6th and a CME on 7th November 2014. We stayed more 2 days for sight seeing. On the way back we halted at Kolkatta for a day.
Dr. Fahim was with me. He is working as Asstt. Registrar in our Pediatric ICU. We flew by Regent Airlines to Kolkatta on 5th November, the airtime took an hour , stayed for hours in Kolkatta airport and then boarded AIR INDIA for Delhi. After 2 hours we reached Delhi Indira International Airport. From there we availed taxi service to reach our Hotel-Asia International at Janapad lane from Ashok Road.
The next morning I prefer to travel by Metro Train. A hotel attendant accompanied me to my destination at BLK Superspecialty Hospital. The Simulation Program was a day long event-different critical care procedures and management of critical cases were exercised.
The CME program the next day was held in RML Hospital.National and international experts discussed different critical care issues.
The main conference organised at Hotel Le Meridien. Delegates from different states and abroad attended the conference, discussed in depth and share their experiences.Total environment was different, food was good and there was hours for banquet.
On 10th, we went out to see different sights and we covered Kutub Minar, Lotus Temple, Rajghat-the grave of Mahatma Gandhi and some other great leaders, Humayun tomb, Isha Khan Tomb, Jame Masjid.
On 11th, we visited the National Gallery of Modern Arts, Red Fort and All India Medical Institutes.
Then we went to Airport and caught our plane-AIR INDIA to reach Kolkata at 10 PM. We lodged into a hotel at Merquis Road, took the taste of Bangla dish in a nearby Restaurant. On 12th we roamed the city by a private taxi, saw from Lake City to Ganga Barrage.
We visited the Victoria Museum and The Tara Mondol. We also did a little shopping from New Market.
The next morning, we reached Chittagong by Regent Airplane.
The journey was nice. We have been impressed by the advancement India has made in the field of Medicine, the neatness and beauty of Delhi city, the way the old heritages are maintained, the taxi service of Kolkata and above all the strength of Democracy in India.
