Indian PM Naredra Modi made a 2 days visit to Bangladesh on 6-7th instant. The visit was taken very enthusiastically both from Bangladesh and India. Nearly 2 dozens deals have been signed between the 2 governments.
BNP, the main opposition that so far based their politics on anti-Indian strategy, expressed their satisfaction over the attitude of Narendra Modi, its chairperson Khaleda Zia also had a meeting with the visiting PM and explained her party’s position towards India and asserted the lack of democratic practice in Bangladesh .
Among the deals there are border treaties, transits, electricity supply and private investment in Bangladesh. Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee also was present on the 1st day with Modi. But the deals missed Tista river issue in the list that was a major concern for Bangladesh.Modi ,however, assured that river linking will not harm Bangladesh.
How far the deals would be beneficial for Bangladesh, only time will say as the details of the treaties are not yet published and what comes out during the phase of implication is uncertain.
