No classes in JU for last 4 months. Students and a section of teachers are in movement for removal of VC. The students are boycotting classes behind the banner of United Cultural Front. Cultural activists and distinguished citizens are coming to the campus to be informed of the situation and to express their support for agitating students. The students as their last resort started hunger strike unto death. Questions arise about the background, process of selection and integrity of the VC. As the situation is turning from bad to worse, PM asked the two factions to meet with her. It is not to forgrt that Jubayer, a student of English department was brutally killed by his opponents in Student League due to intra-party feud in JU.
Teachers of BUET are not attending classes for the last 1 month, again for removal of VC. Here the students are not yet involved and expressed their frustration over the situation.
In CU, the Shibir and Student League are in sporadic clashes since long. 2 students were also killed few weeks back in the conflict. The situation RU is also same.
In DU, the election for DUCSU is pending for the last 12 years. A writ petition is submitted in the High Court for holding the election.

Though, the Education Minister did some remarkable improvement in school and college level, but he could have little influence on the public university campuses.

Concern people opined that the best way to come out from this stagnation and irregularities would be to appoint VC on election basis. Then no one will challenge their competence and doubt their acceptability.

Follow up
The agitating students JU broke their hunger strike on the hope given by the PM that their demands will be considered. Sarah Sarewar Kobori, a member of the senate made the plea to the students on behalf of PM. The university also goes into summer vacation one month earlier.
Classes of BUET are also starting from day after tomorrow as the teachers agreed to withdrew the strike on the assurance of the PM.
JU VC Prof Sharif Enamul Kabir resigned from his post after months of agitation by the students and teachers. Prof Anwar Hussain of Dhaka University was appointed in his post by the Chancellor.

I had to look into the websites of the universities in Bangladesh. I had to frustrate myself when I browsed the internet for the purpose. Even the website of the Dhaka University is not updated , not to tell the other universities. The website is disorganised, short of information and unimpressive.

I had searched the websites of the private universities also. I looked into the the AIUB, NSU and AUST. I was rather pleased by brosing the websites of these universities. The informations are more or less complete and the web sites are well designed. One could easily informed of the aim and objectives, course & curriculum, tuition and expenses, waiver and scholarships of the universities etc in the websites.

The private university website should also provide the results and assessment of the students so that guardians could see the progress of their wards.

Regarding the poor status of the websites of the public universities, we womder what the computer departments and the administration of these universities are doing !

We also wonder when the Bangladesh will be a digital Bangladesh if the public universities that are supported 100% by the government, remain so backward in designing and updating their websites.
